Shop ’till you drop!

WOuld you lookie at that!

That’s 2 Big Shopping Carts

This was the first of two chartered deliveries, 2,300 pounds. It arrived yesterday before I could enjoy my full cup of tea, oh about 8:30 am. The three crew members that have been here for about a week met the plane, since my phone won’t work without a strong WiFi signal, I didn’t get the call to meet the plane. There’s a flight monitoring radio here in the kitchen and we, Taylor and I heard the pilot call for a landing in Sleetmute, I asked, “Is that our plane coming in?” Taylor radioed back and confirmed the tail number, yes! It was indeed “the plane”, not “the plane” from Fantasy Island, but our Cessna Caravan.

It took the five of us only 20 minutes to get the pickup beds loaded, and a slow dive to the community center through muddy roadways, it’s been drizzly most of the past few days. It took me about an hour and half to get the frozen and refrigerated items put into 3 family sized refrigerators, 2 chest freezers and one upright freezer which I raised the temperature to above freezing since I needed a meat locker and not exactly a freezer.

In just a couple more days another 2,300 pounds will arrive, they said not too much more refrigerator space is needed, but I recall that the 4 gallons of ice cream, and 3 cases of bacon are not present and accounted for. After I placed the orders it’s a wonder I can recall anything! I didn’t take a photo of the dry goods stacked up on the freezers, I’m still waiting for the village patrons to remove all their supplies form the kitchen so I can put my supplies in. That task will probably take place on my official first day of preparation, Tuesday 5/28 with Mexican yummieness!

Tortilla Chips & Salsa
Pollo Michoacano

Grilled chicken breast cooked with chorizo sausage covered with melted cheese, Mexican rice, Charro beans, Guacamole salad and flour or corn tortillas
Sopapilla Cheese Cake
When cinnamon donuts and New York cheesecake got married, they made this baby
Shoofly Pie
Not from the south, but from the Pennsylvania Dutch community, referred to as a cake baked in a pie shell, served with vanilla bean ice cream

All the joy of eating these guys are going to have this summer. Are there any women on the crew besides you?

    1. Sounds like you are having an amazing time. Challenging you as well! Always planning for ice cream space! Enjoy every minute of it!
